….Awake you who sleep. Arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time,
because the days are evil.
Therefore, do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
...be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord, giving thanks to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another in the fear of God. (Ephesians 5:14-21 NKJV)
My prayer for the new year is for God to show me what His will is for me in 2020. As I read the bible verse in Ephesians, I realized that this is the answer to my prayer. God is so good! He is faithful to hear us when we go to him with our request for guidance.
As I enjoyed my time at home during the holidays, I spent time browsing my Pinterest page. Often, I see a pin that speaks to my heart and this time the pin 'Feed Your Faith' grabbed my attention. For days after I read the pin the message weighed on my heart and mind. I felt like God was speaking to me, so I asked, " How do I feed my faith?".
I found the answer to my question as I read the bible verse in Ephesians. My two seemingly unrelated experiences (the Pinterest Pin and the Bible Verse in Ephesians) fit together like puzzle pieces. The new year's message became clear to me.
- Wake up! Get up!
- Christ will give you light (understanding what the will of the Lord is).
- Feed Your Faith
-by speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs
-by singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord
-by giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
-by submitting to one another in the fear of God.
WOW! It's amazing how God brings things together to reveal His will.
I know this message is universal; it's for anyone who is a believer in Christ Jesus. We are strengthened as we come together and uplift each other with our words. We feed our faith when we remember and remind each other of what God's Word says and what God's promises are. Giving thanks to the Lord for His loving care and His faithfulness strengthens our relationships with each other and draws us near God the Father. I believe that submitting to one another in the fear of the Lord involves listening to wise words of instruction, accepting encouragement, and sharing how God is working in our lives to meet our needs.
Feeding our faith is important because the days are evil; God tells us very clearly what we need to do.
I'm looking forward to each new day of this new year! God has a plan for each of us and it is a good plan. Feeding our faith strengthens us and gives us the ability to trust God as He unfolds His will for our lives each day.
Lord Jesus, let your love do it's perfect work in every situation that we face this year.
